There is a specific moment when AI stops feeling like a clever toy and starts feeling like help. For me it was a small thing.
I asked the assistant to list the products in my shop. It did not tell me how I could do that. It just listed them. Real names, real prices, straight out of my own store.
I remember sitting there a little stunned, because I had been doing the same job by hand for years.
Why that tiny moment matters
Listing your products back to you is not impressive on its own. What it proves is that the connection works. Once the assistant can read your shop, it can also write to it. Once it can write to it, a whole category of chores stops being yours.
Here is the kind of thing that moved over to the assistant's side of the desk:
- Drafting listings with titles, tags, and descriptions
- Filling in variants and prices
- Preparing the digital files buyers download
- Scheduling a week of social posts
- Sending the email to people who signed up
I still decide what goes out. I still look at everything. But I stopped being the person who moves text between windows.
The readback
I now call that first moment "the readback," and the Stack builds it into every connection.
